"The Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Mr. Mihai-Rãzvan Ungureanu, is deeply concerned about the situation of the civil society in the Transnistrian region<\/font> of the Republic of Moldova. <\/p>\n

In recent weeks, a campaign of harassment and intimidation against NGOs has started, thus further heightening the atmosphere of fear and insecurity amongst the population on the left bank of the Nistru River. The Chair deplores the decree issued by the self proclaimed authorities in this region which impedes severely over the existence and activity of non-governmental organizations. <\/p>\n
