A conference has ended in Bucharest on the establishment of the Black Sea Euro-Region. This project is of a priority importance for the Romanian presidency of the Council of Europe. The Euro-Region will include 9 countries of the Black Sea zone, including Moldova. <\/p>\n

The conference was organized jointly with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe (CLRAE). The Romanian delegation included President Traian Basescu and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Razvan-Unghureanu. The forum was attended also by Secretary General of the Council of Europe Terry Davis, CLRAE Chairman Giovanni di Stazi, the representatives of the European Commission and Governments of the 9 states concerned. <\/p>\n

Initiated by Romania, the Project is targeted at the development of trans-border collaboration in the Black Sea zone, consolidation of local democracies, economic cooperation, a more efficient governance at the local level, encouragement of the European Union’s interest to the European-integration processes taking place in the countries of the Carpathian and Black Sea regions. <\/p>\n

The Project is designed for the local authorities of the countries concerned, and it will not repeat other forms of cooperation in this part of Europe such as the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) or the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe. <\/p>\n

Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Sergiu Sainciuc, who represented the Republic of Moldova at the forum, stated from its podium the Black Sea Euro-Region may become an effective instrument for consolidation of good neighborly relations, exchange of experience, implementation of trans-national projects to foster the economic and social development of the Black Sea nations. \/\/ Infotag<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
