\"\"President Vladimir Voronin believes the ruling Moldovan Communist Party he heads "has proved its ability to manage the country". <\/p>\n

Speaking as party leader at the last Saturday’s all-republican meeting of party representatives dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the MCP’ accession to power, Voronin said, "We can now state with full responsibility: the Communists, as a political organization, are able to stay at power, to successfully wage their policy that rests, first and foremost, on the fundamentals of our renovated ideology". <\/p>\n

In his opinion, the MCP’s parliamentary electoral victories in 2001 and 2005 "permit to assert that the realization of strategic tasks is inseparable from every-day practice. These 5 years, the Communist Party has been working for social justice and social accord, and for solidarity of all citizens". <\/p>\n

Touching on the ruling party’s achievements, Voronin said that over the 5 years the republic’s gross domestic product has gone up 40%, revenues to the State Budget have tripled, the average pay size has increased by over 3 times, and inflation has dropped. The nation’s external debt has diminished 4-fold, the number of industrial enterprises doubled, the number of jobs increased 1.5-fold, industrial output tripled, and agricultural output grown up 60%. <\/p>\n

"The achieved good results are proving that the Communist Party has expertly utilized available domestic resources. It took correct administrative decisions that permitted to achieve economic efficiency even in complicated conditions", stated the head of state. <\/p>\n

Among tasks set for the nearest year, Vladimir Voronin mentioned the building of "a social state", provision of a favorable climate for entrepreneurship, and building of an economy perceptible to novelties. <\/p>\n

"And only the Communist Party is able to realize such tasks, for we are the only party that seeks to express the entire society’s interests for a long perspective. Every teacher, and a worker, and a peasant, and a man of business is equally dear to us. We have no favorites, and no one may be subjected to a social discrimination", stated Vladimir Voronin. <\/p>\n

Touching on the relationship with Russia, the President emphasized "it has always been friendly, and the ruling Communist Party does everything to develop and further consolidate the ties in conformity with the Basic Political Treaty that has fixed the relations of a strategic partnership between the two countries". <\/p>\n

"I am convinced that Moldova will never be suffering any russo-phobic complexes. An adequate attitude to Russia and the [ethnic] Russian population living here is one of the strictest tests for democracy for many independent states. I am convinced that we are undergoing the test successfully", said President Voronin. <\/p>\n
