The enterprises from the Transnistrian region are prevented from participating in a seminar organised by the Moldovan Chamber of Trade and Industry (CCI) on establishing the procedure of crossing the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border according to the Moldovan and Ukrainian prime ministers’ joint declaration from 30 December 2005, MOLDPRES has quoted a press release of the Reintegration Ministry as saying. <\/p>\n

The directors of the region’s enterprises told CCI and the Reintegration Ministry that they are stopped at the exits from the Bender and Ribnita cities by power wielding structures’ employees, who enhanced the control measures and forbid the enterprises from going to Chisinau. <\/p>\n

The Reintegration Ministry has drawn the attention of the OSCE Mission to Moldova and of the peacekeeping forces to this case of human rights’ glaring violation in the region and infringement of the Security Zone’s regime. The ministry called on them to intervene and prompt the Transnistrian region’s authorities to give up the practice of intimidating the region’s population, and to assure the people’s and goods’ right to free circulation in the Security Zone, in line with the stipulations of the agreement from 21 July 1992. <\/p>\n

The press release also says that the ministry describes this repression action as a continuation of the tactics of self-isolation and consciously causing damages to the region’s enterprises through preventing them from carrying out a normal activity. Beyond the eventual economic consequences of such inadequate actions, we point to the humanitarian aspects of the Transnistrian leaders’ policy, who condition the fate of hundreds of thousands of people on their own political ambitions, while disregarding the generally human values. <\/p>\n
