\"\"The European integration represents a long-lasting process, and Moldova has agreements with the member states and those in course of joining the European Union (EU), so that they give Moldova support to this effect, President Vladimir Voronin said at the Moldova One TV channel. <\/p>\n

According to President Voronin, the European integration is a process with two directions – on the one hand, Moldova aspires to integrate into the European community, and on the other hand, "Europe" must be build in Moldova. <\/p>\n

At the same time, the head of state specified that there is no contradiction between the European vector announced by Moldova and the fact that the country is a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). CIS is the biggest sales market for the Moldovan goods, where they enjoy certain facilities, Vladimir Voronin said. According to the president, one cannot say that CIS represents an antipode of GUAM (regional organisation including Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova), Moldova is a member of. Moldova is interested to develop GUAM’s energy component, Voronin said. <\/p>\n

Asked if the president prepares a successor for the post of head of state, Voronin said that this is not the main problem, but what situation will be in Moldova at that moment. The head of state also said that the course of reforms started by Moldova should be continued, and Moldova will have to register living stardards at the European average level and a well-developed human potential. <\/p>\n

Touching upon the Transnistrian problem, Vladimir Voronin specified that Moldova will accept only a peaceful approaching of the Transnistrian problem settlement, and refuted rumours about the country’s eventual arming. At the same time, the head of state said that the negotiations on this problem are to be held only with the democratic society from the Transnistrian region, on the basis of the democratic principles included in the plan proposed by Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko. <\/p>\n

Voronin also said that, so far, the negotiations have been held with people who usurped the power, and who do not wish to cooperate.
