Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuri Ehanurov confirmed that Transnistrian goods will cross the Moldovan-Ukrainian border only if they are accompanied by specimens of the Republic of Moldova. He expressed his surprise to the reaction of the Transnistrian separatists, with whom, according to him, Ukrainian authorities discussed in detail the new regime of goods transition, AP FLUX informs referring to Interfax. <\/p>\n

Ehanurov says that the statements regarding “embargo on Transnistria” are not justified. According to him, all aspects of the new customs rules were discussed with the interested parties as early as in 2005. “I examined all the problems and took a coordinated decision. I postponed the coming into force of this mechanism, as there were certain problems, but they have already been solved. The Transnistrian side has no other arguments than to say it doesn’t like it”, Ehanurov stated. <\/p>\n

We remind that on March 3, the Head of the Ukrainian Customs Service Alexandr Egorov concluded a decree ordering that all the Transnistrian goods will cross the Moldovan-Ukrainian border only if they will have on them documentation issued in Chisinau. <\/p>\n

Transnistria is asking Russia for help in settling the “customs dispute” with Ukraine. The pretended chairman of the chamber of commerce and industry in Tiraspol Vasili Korjan sent a letter in this regard to his Russian colleague Evgheni Primakov. According to radio “Eho Moskvy”, Korjan says that the new rules “imposed by Ukraine” will increase the financial pressure on Transnistrian enterprises, which will be due to pay taxes of around $150 million in the State Budget of the Republic of Moldova.
