As a guarantor state in the process of settlement, the Russian Federation is asking for the review of the customs regime introduced in Transnistria as well as for the start of negotiations between all the parties interested in the identification of certain mutually advantageous solutions, AP FLUX informs citing a statement of the Russian Ministry of the Exterior remitted to the press on Saturday. <\/p>\n

“What Chisinau and Kiev want to look like introducing order at the borders constitutes in reality an ordinary attempt to make an economic pressure on Tiraspol with the view to impose the latter to capitulate politically in issues related to the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict,” the document reads. The Russian Federation considers that “the adoption of the new regime of transition of the Transnistrian goods at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border violates Transnistria’s foreign economic activity rights fixed in the Memorandum on the relationship normalization between Chisinau and Tiraspol of 1997”. <\/p>\n

We remind that the Ukrainian customs posts stopped transiting Transnistrian goods accompanied by Tiraspol-issued documents on the Transnistrian segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border starting on March 3, 2006. According to the new regulation, in order to transit the Ukrainian border, specimens issued by the customs authorities of the Republic of Moldova must accompany the goods. <\/p>\n

As a response to the Ukrainian authorities’ actions, the separatist regime of Tiraspol banned goods transportation from and to the right bank of the Nistru. Tiraspol considers that Ukraine’s attitude is against its status of guarantor in the process of settlement of the Transnistrian dispute. <\/p>\n
