The Transnistrian authorities have self-isolated themselves, and if the Moldovan and Ukrainian premiers’ joint declaration is implemented, any economic blockade is out of the question, MOLDPRES has quoted the Ukrainian Ambassador-at-Large to the negotiations on Transnistrian problem, Dmitry Tkach, as saying. <\/p>\n

Tkach told an Ukrainian TV channel that Transnistria has right to foreign trade, but only on the basis of the customs stamps issued by the Moldovan constitutional authorities. "Especially as the regime of the Transnistrian goods’ transit across the Moldovan-Ukrainian border is not a new one, it was until 2004, and the Tiraspol authorities were informed about its re-implementation as early as in the beginning of 2006," Tkach said. <\/p>\n

At the same time, the participants in a yesterday meeting of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s (MAE) interdepartmental operative group ascertained that there are no grounds to speak about an economic blockade of Transnistria. "Ukraine’s actions are routed to guarantee an efficient control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border", says the declaration published on the Ukrainian MAE’s official site.<\/p>\n

On<\/font> March 8, 2006 in Odesa there was held a session of the interdepartmental executive group established on the base of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in Odesa in connection with the situation arisen at the Ukrainian – Moldavian frontier. The group headed by the Special Representative of Ukraine on the Transniestrian conflict settlement Dmytro Tkach included representatives of the foreign policy office of Ukraine, the customs and frontier services, the Ministry of Transport and Communication, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and other central and local executive authorities. The session was held with the participation of the European Commission Border Mission at the Ukrainian – Moldavian frontier. <\/font><\/p>\n

In<\/font> the course of the session, the state of application of new procedure of paperwork for goods and vehicles imported to Ukraine from the Republic of Moldova was considered. The participants of the session expressed anxiety that the Transniestrian side had blockaded transport traffic through the frontier points “Platonove” and “Kuchurgan Railway Station”. Such situation has been created artificially and means nothing but self-blockade organized by the authorities of Tiraspol.<\/font> <\/p>\n

There<\/font> are no any reasons to say about economical blockade of the Transniestria. The Ukrainian – Moldavian state frontier is guarded in standard mode, the procedure of crossing the frontier for citizens has not changed, resumption of the customs regulations at the Ukrainian – Moldavian frontier concerns only Transniestrian enterprises and companies which conduct foreign-economic activity.
