\"\"The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted on March 1 an interim resolution on the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in the case of Ilascu and others versus Russia and Moldova. <\/p>\n

According to a declaration made by Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ECRH’s decision in the case of Ilascu pronounced on 8 July 2004 requests that the two condemned states take all the necessary measures and set free the detainees immediately. So far Moldova and Russia paid only the damages. <\/p>\n

“The document is the result of Council of Europe’s concerns over the lack of progress in releasing the two Romanian citizens held illegally in Transdniestria’s prison since 1993. Given that the grave violation of the human rights and defiance of the democratic values by the authorities of the breakaway Transdniestrian region became more prominent lately, Andrei Ivantoc declared hunger strike”, the declaration reads. <\/p>\n

Unlike the other two resolutions, the last resolution of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe seeks more firmly that Russia make efforts and release Andrei Ivantoc and Tudor Petrov-Popa. On the other hand, Moldova is encouraged to take steps and fully execute the ECHR’s decision. <\/p>\n

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Romania will follow how the decision of the ECHR is carried out and hopes the two Roamnian citizens will be set free without delay. <\/p>\n

Contacted by REPORTER.MD, Eudochia Ivantoc, wife of the political prisoner Andrei Ivantoc, said that her husband refuses to receive the parcels with food she had sent to him and she is not allowed to see him. “I do not know how he feels because I saw him two months ago. According to the timetable of the prison, I would see him at the end of March”, Eudochia Ivantoc told. <\/p>\n
