The negotiators also failed to sign the final protocol. The sides agreed just on a joint declaration, in which they express regret about the non-settlement of any of the issues included on the negotiations’ agenda. <\/p>\n

The head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, William Hill, told a today’s news conference that the delegations confirmed their willingness to continue the discussions during the next days, but they have not fixed a concrete day when they could do it. <\/p>\n

Asked who is guilty of the lack of progress in the negotiation process, Hill said that he cannot answer it. He specified that the greatest difficulty which did not allow to sign the final protocol represented the discussions on the problems in the security zone and the circulation of the Dorotcaia village’s population. <\/p>\n

William Hill also said that, during the debates, there were divergences of principle, and none of the sides wished to give in. He stressed that the negotiations were "quite difficult" this time as well. "It was very difficult for us to discuss the important problems. The sides had contradictory opinions for each of them, which are quite far from one another," Hill specified. <\/p>\n

The OSCE Ambassador to Chisinau also said that he will go to Moscow today evening to meet representatives of the Russian Defence Ministry. <\/p>\n

At the same time, in a press release of the Moldovan Reintegration Ministry, the Moldovan side expressed discontent about the lack of any results in the Transnistrian conflict settlement. At the end of the debates, minister Vasile Sova launched an appeal to the leaders of the OSCE’s, Russia’s, Ukraine’s, European Union’s (EU) and USA’s delegations to continue the negotiations on 7 March. <\/p>\n

This was the fourth round of the enlarged-format negotiations on the Transnistrian problem, with the EU’s and USA’s participation as observers.
