The draft placed on the Romanian President’s official site says that "Romania has the political and moral duty to back Moldova in covering the process of modernization, democratisation and European integration, to do everything which is possible in order to support – from the political, economic and diplomatic viewpoint – the principle of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as in order to increase Romania’s contribution to extend the security and prosperity area." <\/p>\n

According to the document, Romania will continue to attentively monitor the Transnistrian conflict’s evolution, to actively contribute to identify viable solutions – based on the region’s democratisation and demilitarisation, on the withdrawal of troops and weaponry which are illegally deployed in the east of Moldova – and to back the decisive involvement in the European Union’s and the USA’s peace process. <\/p>\n

"It is also our duty not to accept that Moldova be subjected to the blackmail of any kind, and to support the authorities and the population to overcome the difficulties as regards the supply with energy," says Romania’s draft National Strategy. <\/p>\n

Building a security and prosperity regime in the Black Sea region represents this strategy’s distinct trend of action. Romania has a fundamental strategical interest that the Black Sea’s extended region be stable, democratic and closly connected to the European and Euro-Atlantic structures. <\/p>\n

"Counteracting the risks and threats as regards the terrorism, illegal trafficking of armament, the frozen conflicts, first of all, represent the primordial responsibility of the Black Sea riparian countries. They are to be aware of these dangers’ existence, and are obliged to develop domestic, foreign and security policies able to neutralise the negative phenomena within their own borders, and to abstain from backing in any way the separatist movements, the extremist and terrorist organisations, the infractional activities," the document says. <\/p>\n
