In Albania Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin met Albanian Speaker Jozefina Topalli and chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tirana Luan Bregasi. <\/p>\n

Vladimir Voronin and Jozefina Topalli spoke about the common objectives of the two countries, like finalization of economic reforms, consolidation of democracy and the European integration. Ms Topalli spoke of the historical importance of the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the EU signed by Albania, presidential press service informs. <\/p>\n

Both officials expressed interest in developing the bilateral political dialogue, mentioning the role of the parliaments in this process, taking into account the fact that both countries have a parliamentary system of government. Vladimir Voronin and Jozefina Topalli pointed out the fact that the similitude of tasks during the period of transition and the aspiration for integration into the EU approach the positions of the two countries within European and regional structures. <\/p>\n

President Vladimir Voronin congratulated Albanian authorities on their success in signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the EU, adding that Albania’s experience is of great interest for Moldova especially because this event is so recent. <\/p>\n

President Vladimir Voronin and Luan Bregasi talked about the importance of the Moldovan-Albanian relations from the economic point of view. <\/p>\n

Luan Bregasi mentioned the good relationship established between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries and the importance of the cooperation agreement in the field signed by Moldova and Albania. The implementation of this document will help increase the trade between the two countries, which is insignificant at present, Bregasi said. He voiced Albanian business people’s interest in investing in the Moldovan economy, in establishing business relations with them, especially in the agrifood sector. <\/p>\n

Today Vladimir Voronin is paying an official visit to Macedonia, during which he intends to sign the Moldovan-Macedonian intergovernmental agreement on the avoidance of double taxation and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Macedonian Agency for Combating Money Laundering and Moldovan Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption. <\/p>\n
