Former Defense Minister Valeriu Pasat, who was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, calls the statements made by the PPCD leader Iurie Rosca “absurd”. On Tuesday Iurie Rosca accused Pasat of making attempt to destabilize the political situation in the country. <\/p>\n

In response, Pasat’s lawyer Gheorghe Amihalachioae Tuesday told PRO TV channel that Pasat “was not surprised by the style and behavior of the Christian Democratic People’s Party (PPCD)”. <\/p>\n

Amihalachioae quoted his client as saying that Rosca’s statements “are nothing else but an attempt to save his political name after he betrayed the electorate by the 4 April 2005 vote”. <\/p>\n

In reply, the PPCD leader told during the same TV program that “Valeriu Pasat has the same point of view as many Moldovan political leaders that were involved in the plan of destabilizing the political situation in the country”. <\/p>\n

Leader of the Republican People’s Party Nicolae Andronic, who is also accused by Rosca, told on the phone during the same TV program that “Rosca’s statements result from his sick imagination. He just wants to wash his hands of the Communist Party”. <\/p>\n

According to Rosca’s statements, Nicolae Andronic would have paid him a visit at the PPCD headquarters and would have suggested him to take part together in the protest actions that had to be organized after last spring’s parliamentary elections. <\/p>\n

Andronic says it was Rosca who invited him “personally” to confer on the issue of the protest actions and their financing. <\/p>\n

On 7 February 2006 Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed the organization by Valeriu Pasat in common with other persons of a number of actions with the aim of “usurping the state power” before March 2005 parliamentary elections.
