The North-Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) is ready to provide political support to Moldova in settling its problems and fulfilling objectives regarding the strengthening of national security, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry has said in a press release after the session of the NATO Political Committee at high level in the 26 + Moldova format. <\/p>\n

Chisinau presented the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP), drafted by Moldovan authorities and transmitted to NATO on December 7, 2005, at the meeting. The four chapters of the document envisage the evolution of social-political situation in the country and priorities of government regarding reformation of different areas, including of security and defence sector of the country. <\/p>\n

The delegations of allied countries reiterated that the ratification of the CFE Treaty will be possible only after the withdrawal of Russian troops and ammunition from Moldova, in compliance with the commitments that the Russian Federation had assumed at the 1999 OSCE summit in Istanbul. <\/p>\n

Deputy Premier Andrei Stratan, foreign and European integration minister, chairman of the national commission for drafting and implementation of IPAP, headed the Moldovan delegation to these consultations. The delegation also included Ion Morei, secretary of the Supreme Security Council; Deputy Defence Minister Ion Coropcean, head of the General Staff; and Ambassador Victor Gaiciuc, head of the Moldovan mission to NATO. The NATO delegation was headed by Ambassador Martin Erdmann, deputy secretary-general of NATO for political affairs and security policy. <\/p>\n
