The GUAM member states have appreciated the activity of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
\nAt the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna on Thursday, the GUAM member states made a statement saying they are satisfied with the activity of ODIHR which monitors and assesses the elections in the OSCE space under exemplary standards and methodology, especially as regards the independence and impartiality. <\/p>\n

The statement’s signatories expressed confidence ODIHR will be able to face the difficulties it confronts at the moment. At the same time, GUAM is willing to support the Office in its activity, especially by making some additional commitments concerning democratic elections. <\/p>\n

The statement stresses the importance of education and instruction in the field of human rights with a view to increasing the capacity for managing with this problem correspondingly. In this connection, ODIHR was requested to draw up new programs based on the specific necessities of the member states, focused mainly on the work with the young generation. <\/p>\n
