About Moldova.org

Moldova.org is an independent (non-political & non-governmental) portal that provides Moldova's and international news and information. It is ‘one stop, find it all’ place for its visitors who are seeking information on the Republic of Moldova.

Moldova.org was launched in February 1997 (and sustained by their volunteer efforts through 2003) by Vlad Spanu (then a senior diplomat at the Moldovan embassy in Washington, DC, now the President of The Moldova Foundation) and Sergey Chapkey (then the President of The Rule of Law Foundation, now the President and CEO of Alfa XP Web Software Company, LLC). It became the best and most comprehensive information source about Moldova in English language. In 2003-2006, Institute for Development and Social Initiatives "Viitorul" (Moldova) made its contribution to the content development of Moldova.org and its sub-domains.

In 2006-2009, Chisinau-based Neo-Business SRL headed by Victor Prohnitchi, has managed, as a sub-contractor of the Moldova Foundation, the content development at Moldova.org, but due to malpractice/misconduct and misuse of funds by V.Prohnitchi the cooperation has ended (1).

Today, Moldova.org is a state-of-the-art information portal in English, Romanian, and Russian with some 6 million visitors a year (or 16 thous. a day) and about 10.5 million hits (2008), operated by The Moldova Foundation (USA) in partnership with Adpixel-prim SRL (Moldova). Our subscribed members represent international organizations, national NGOs and think-tanks, governmental institutions, private firms, and just individuals from some 50 countries. Moldova.org articles are searchable at Yahoo News, AllTheWeb News, and AltaVista News.

(1) Victor Prohnitchi/Neo-Business SRL pulled off from this cooperation in the aftermath of the April 7, 2009 protests in Chisinau, allegedly fearing prosecution from authorities for running an independent news portal that reported news about elections and youth protests. In reality, Prohnitchi has appropriated funds from advertising revenues of Moldova.org that were to be distributed to other sub-contractors working for Moldova.org. All efforts to solve this matter amicable were neglected by Victor Prohnitchi. The Moldova Foundation reserves the right to warn Moldova.org’s audience not to conduct business with Neo-Business, nor with Victor Prohgnitchi.
