Romanian MEP says Moldova’s expectations of convention on small border traffic are unrealistic

"The proposal that the convention on small cross-border traffic should include Transdniestria submitted by the Moldovan authorities is unrealistic because Romania is the EU’s eastern border, while Moldova does not have control over its whole territory,” MEP Renate Weber was quoted by the Romanian press as saying.

The official said that if the Moldovan authorities propose that the convention should cover all Moldova’s territory, including Transdniestria, this means they consider they have influence over the whole territory.

“Of course, on one officially recognizes Transdniestria. The EU regards it a Moldovan territory, but de facto the situation is different.
